Data Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Data & API Engineer to take ownership of critical components including a portable data layer and a notification system essential during flood events. This role focuses on database engineering and designing robust REST APIs to support external consumption and messaging platform integration. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain database systems with a focus on portability and reliability. Develop and manage RESTful APIs including versioning, authentication, and rate limiting. Lead data migration efforts with thorough record validation. Integrate and manage notification or messaging platforms, ensuring reliable communication during critical events. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data and API components meet operational needs. Required Skills & Certifications: 7+ years of experience in database engineering and REST API design. Bachelor's degree in Data or equivalent experience. Strong experience with data migration and record validation. Proficient in designing APIs for external consumption including versioning, authentication, and rate limiting. Experience integrating notification or messaging platforms. Strong working knowledge of SQL Server. Understanding of SMS consent regulations and practices. Preferred Skills & Certifications: Strong experience with Twilio, including ownership or administration. Azure Database Administrator Associate certification. Twilio certification or equivalent documented hands-on project experience. Special Considerations: The role involves managing notification systems critical during flood emergencies.
