Staff Accountant

Bates Mill 30 Lisbon Street Lewiston, ME 04240, USA Responsible for reconciling accounts, Elan card oversight, and other accounting duties. Responsibilities Daily reconciliation of Federal Reserve account and weekly/monthly proofs of other correspondent bank accounts. Daily reconciliations in Check Reconciliation System. Set up fixed assets. Weekly/monthly reconciliations and monthly block postings of prepaids and accruals. Support internal customers regarding foreign wire and currency. Balance interoffice and follow up on outdated tickets. Assist employees, vendors, clients, or external customers by answering questions related to accounts and services. Post descriptions to income and expense postings made at the teller line. Share responsibility with Financial Reporting Accountant to produce several monthly reports and reconciliations. Oversee Bank’s Corporate Card program by reviewing all employee transactions, ensuring accuracy, securing proper documentation, and overseeing posting of all items. Support Financial Reporting Accountant with maintaining and creating reports for the department as needed. Maintain the FTE report. Comply with all banking laws, regulations, privacy, and acceptable use policies and protect customer information and institution assets. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university, or two to four years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two or more years progressively responsible accounting experience. Proven knowledge of accounting principles and experience with bank reporting and regulations. Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks. Proven communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with multiple computer applications (word processing, spreadsheet, database management software, coding data‑based reports). Detail‑oriented work with high accuracy. Ability to meet deadlines and complete work timely.
