Peptide Discovery Director

A stealth mode start-up biotech with a metabolic bone disease focus in the San Francisco/Bay Area is adding to their team. This is a well‑funded biotech that is looking to build their team with a Peptide Discovery Director (leveling/title flexible, dependent on experience) who is looking to help drive programs forward with experience optimization peptides and managing projects by working with CROs. Description Work with Research Leadership and partner CROs on design and implementation of the peptide drug pipeline. Lead programs in a fast‑paced early biotech environment and manage the peptide drug discovery workflows including but not limited to peptide discovery campaigns, platform development, optimization, synthesis and characterization. Key Responsibilities Work with partner CROs on design and implementation of peptide discovery and optimization campaigns Collaborate with biology leads to design and implement peptide hit screening funnels Devise lead optimization strategies to identify drug candidates Interrogate various strategies to improve oral bioavailability Requirements Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or related fields with 5 years of experience in peptide drug discovery in the biotech industry Deep experience and understanding of peptide discovery workflows including discovery and optimization of potency, stability, and other biophysical properties required of a clinical drug candidate Experience in structural analysis tools and the ability to propose non‑canonical modifications to native peptide sequences to improve potency and other desired biophysical qualities. Experience in medicinal chemistry related to peptides and non‑canonical modifications Experience in engineering peptides for increased oral bioavailability Ability to manage multiple projects with CRO partners Program leadership experience in biotech or pharma Ability to work with flexibility in a virtual environment with multiple external partners Independent self‑starter with strong organizational and communication skills #J-18808-Ljbffr Mix Talent
