Fiber SplicerSunrise Telecom, Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Fiber Splicer to join our growing telecommunications team. This position is responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fiber optic cable systems supporting broadband and telecommunications infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working in both aerial and underground environments and possess strong technical knowledge of fiber optic systems and industry standards.Fiber Splicers play a critical role in ensuring high-quality network performance while maintaining Sunrise Telecom's commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cablesRead and interpret fiber matrices, splice schematics, and construction printsPrep, splice, and test fiber optic cables in aerial, underground, and indoor environmentsPerform OTDR and power meter testing to verify signal quality and troubleshoot issuesInstall and maintain fiber enclosures, splice cases, terminals, and related hardwareIdentify and resolve network outages and fiber-related service issuesMaintain accurate splice documentation and testing recordsEnsure all work is completed according to company standards, customer specifications, and safety regulationsOperate company vehicles and equipment safely and responsiblyWork closely with construction crews, project managers, and field leadershipParticipate in on-call rotations and emergency restoration work as neededMaintain a clean and organized work environment and company vehicleQualificationsPrevious fiber splicing experience preferredKnowledge of telecommunications construction practices and fiber optic systemsAbility to read and interpret utility maps, prints, and schematicsExperience using fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and related testing equipmentStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamMust be detail-oriented with strong organizational skillsAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditionsWillingness to travel as needed for projectsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredValid driver's license requiredCDL preferred but not requiredIndustry certifications are a plusPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 75 poundsAbility to climb ladders and work in confined spacesAbility to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periodsAbility to distinguish color-coded fiber cablesWork EnvironmentOutdoor field environment in varying weather conditionsMay require evenings, weekends, overtime, and travel depending on project needsSafety-sensitive position requiring adherence to all company and customer safety policiesWhy Join Sunrise Telecom?At Sunrise Telecom, Inc., we value teamwork, growth, safety, and dedication.
