Bioinformatician - Bioinformatician - Biomedical Imaging Resource (BIR) - 1 Year Limited Tenure

Responsibilities The Bioinformatician functions as a bioinformatics collaborator who applies expertise to the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research and clinical genomics studies. The work is performed under the supervision of a Senior or Principal Bioinformatician. The role requires skills and knowledge in various bioinformatics and computational biology tools and techniques to analyze genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data. Good programming skills are needed to develop novel analytical tools as required by projects. Additional optional skills include basic knowledge of statistical methodology. Administrative duties include accurately keeping track of time spent on projects and maintaining project documentation with sufficient detail to hand off to other bioinformatics staff. The position is a limited‑tenure appointment approved for one year, with the possibility of becoming a regular position. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship; we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Additional Information The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of automated AI and bioinformatics pipelines, including evaluating, implementing, and supporting new and experimental software packages for informatics and imaging workflows. This role requires intellectual curiosity and motivation to expand expertise in emerging, data‑focused domains as project needs evolve. The candidate must have a proven track record of successful technical customer service and consulting, partnering effectively with investigators and stakeholders to translate complex computational approaches into practical, research‑ready solutions. Qualifications • Master’s degree in bioinformatics or a related field with an emphasis on analytical omics expertise. • Good written and oral communication skills. • Expertise in informatics computing and data management packages. • Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate tasks on projects. • Demonstrated initiative in administration, education (seminars, training), software development, and technical reporting. • Proven success in project management and communication. • Commitment to customer service with an attitude of owning each customer’s experience.
