MUSC Health Chester Medical Center (CMC): 82-bed acute care hospital with 13-bed ED delivering emergency services and comprehensive clinical care to patients in Chester County. CMC’s Emergency Department is recognized by SC-DPH as a “Pediatric Ready” hospital MUSC Health Indian Land Medical Center: 52-bed hospital with an anticipated 24 bed ED currently under construction in Indian Land, SC and set to open late 2027 Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below. Physician Assistant OR APRN FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan. Licensed or eligible for South Carolina licensure Position Highlights: Provides direct care to patients through the following activities: Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline Performs the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division Chief: 1) Administration of Local and Digital Anesthesia and 2) Complicated and Uncomplicated Repair of Lacerations Removal of Foreign Bodies from Eyes, Ears, Nose, Skin, and Wounds Trepination of Subungual Hematomas Incision and Drainage of Abscesses Urethral Catheterization Placement of Peripheral Venous Access Placement of Central Lines [with proof of competency] Placement of Thoracostomy Endotracheal Intubation [with proof of competency] ACLS Arterial Puncture Venipuncture Lumbar Puncture [with proof of competency] Application of Splints Arthrocentesis Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician Documents and bills for direct care provided Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision-making in all clinical practice Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law Benefits & Resources for Providers: Competitive compensation and benefits Provider can choose between W2/PRN or 1099/PRN Hotel reimbursement (if applicable) Mileage reimbursement (if applicable) Epic EHR with physician-centered optimization and robust user support AI-enabled documentation and workflow tools integrated into Epic to reduce administrative burden and support clinical decision-making at the point of care Team-based care models that support sustainable workloads, shared responsibility, and provider well-being Life in the Catawba Division: Lancaster, SC Lancaster, SC is located just 45 minutes away from the Charlotte metropolitan area, and serves as the seat of Lancaster County, the sixth fastest-growing county in the Carolinas.
