Management Preferences (Optional): These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

• Ability to perform several widely varying and diverse assignments that require in-depth knowledge of the design of automotive bodies and related parts and of the methods, tools, and equipment used in their repair or replacement.
• Working knowledge of the strength and malleability of metals.
• Working knowledge of the use of a Mig welder in repair or replacement of damaged body panels.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex vehicle repairs using the proper tools, resources, equipment and training.
• Ability to read and comprehend repair manuals.

Key Responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Execute comprehensive body repairs, including dent removal, surface filling, and the restoration of mounting holes for specialized equipment (e.g., antennas and emergency lighting).
• Restore filing cabinets and out of service vehicles to include but not limited to (hole repair, light bar removal, dents, decal removal, rubber bumper covers and repainting).
• Replacement of glass of active patrol vehicles (windshields, damaged glass, water leaks, etc.).
• Completing the detailing of active vehicles including sanding, buffing and re-decaling.
• Maintain paint shop cleanliness including shop tools and equipment.

Position/Physical Requirements:

Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM. This position may require an on-call availability after regular business hours (ex. nights/weekends).

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of experience in the area of assignment, or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.

The primary purpose of the State Highway Patrol's Body Shop is to repair all damaged Highway Patrol vehicles. This includes vehicles involved in accidents as well as the repair of minor scratches, small dents, and broken glass. Also, the body shop is responsible for the restoration of outdated patrol vehicles that are turned in when new vehicles are issued.

Veteran's and National Guard Preference
