RN (Registered Nurse)

Unit Notes
- Unit: ICU
- # beds: 11 beds, all private rooms
- Certs: ACLS, BLS, NIH required
- Ratios: 1 to 1-2
- EMR: Cerner
- Charge Nurse: Yes - they will try and take a small patient load
- Nurse Aides: No
- Weekend Requirement: every other
- Holidays: work in with perm staff rotation
- Scrub Color: navy
- Tele/Monitor Techs: phillips -they have a monitor tech on day shift, nurses are required to read tele strips
- Drips: yes - dopamine, levophend, epi, nitro, etc.
- Vents: yes
- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: intensivist is on call after 5pm
- IV Team: no - they do have a PICC line team if needed
- RT 24/7: yes
- Pharmacy 24/7: No - use marian for after hours after 10pm, nigh shift nurses may have to mix meds
- Shifts: 12 hr shifts - 6-6
- Floating: float to tele (1 to 4) or to MS (1 to 5)
- Floor specific orientation: 2 shifts
- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: open heart, general surgery, swans, vents, chest tubes, art lines, CRRT impellas, STEMi's, stroke, balloon pumps (travelers will not take), No neuro on unit
- Additional Notes: Candidates need at least 2 years of experience, travel experience preferred, must have experience with chest tubes, art lines, and swans!
