The Opportunity

We're looking for an Assistant Project Manager who is organized, proactive, and ready to build a career in commercial electrical project management.

You'll work closely with our Project Managers and field leadership to keep projects moving from start-up through closeout. This is a hands-on role with meaningful responsibility: tracking materials, coordinating project information, supporting change orders, and helping the field get what it needs to execute the work.

As your experience and judgment develop, you'll have opportunities to take on greater responsibility, including managing smaller projects with support. As RTL grows, we want you to grow with us.

What You'll Do

• Project Coordination: Support Project Managers in coordinating with general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and field foremen. Track action items, communicate updates, and help resolve issues before they affect progress.
• Documentation & Technical Details: Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, drawing revisions, and project records. Help ensure the field has current, accurate information.
• Procurement & Material Tracking: Assist with purchasing and delivery coordination for lighting, controls, switchgear, and other electrical equipment. Track long-lead items and flag potential delays early.
• Scheduling & Field Support: Help coordinate upcoming work, material needs, inspections, and subcontractor activities. Support manpower planning with Project Managers and field leadership.
• Cost Tracking & Change Orders: Assist with tracking project costs and commitments. Use EBM or equivalent estimating software to prepare change-order pricing for review, and maintain change-order logs and supporting documentation.
• Project Closeout: Coordinate as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, punch-list items, and other closeout requirements.

What We're Looking For

We care about your electrical understanding, communication style, follow-through, and character. The following experience will help you succeed here:

• 0–3 years of experience supporting projects within commercial electrical contracting as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or in a comparable role.
• Experience with commercial tenant fit-outs or office interiors.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications, with a foundational understanding of electrical systems and construction sequencing.
• Strong organization and attention to detail, including the ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on outstanding items.
• Clear, professional communication and the confidence to ask questions, flag concerns, and work through problems.
• Familiarity with electrical estimating and EBM or equivalent estimating software is a plus.
• A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements.

Field electrical experience, construction management education, and experience with SCIF / secure environments are welcome but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $65,000 - 85,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Details

This is a full-time, in-person position based in Chantilly, Virginia, with visits to project sites throughout the DMV.
