CNC Lathe Machinist

The 2nd Shift CNC Lathe Machinist programs, sets up, and operates CNC lathes and related equipment to produce precision components according to blueprints, drawings, and layouts. This role focuses on machining complex parts, verifying quality and tolerances, and maintaining efficient, accurate production in a modern job shop environment that supports aerospace and agricultural industries.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC lathes and machine parts according to blueprints, drawings, and layouts.
• Set up, operate, and disassemble lathes, mills, and grinding machines as required.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes with live tooling to produce complex components.
• Machine complex workpieces, including parts made from unique materials or featuring intricate geometries.
• Verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces using appropriate gauges and measurement tools.
• Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces to ensure safe and accurate machining.
• Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind parts to meet specified requirements and engineering standards.
• Complete required documentation, including purchase requisitions, inspection sheets, and production sheets.
• Clean and deburr parts, maintain a tidy work area, and keep machine tools in good condition.
• Identify and communicate questions or concerns related to customer requirements or part specifications.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on machine tools and assist in diagnosing machine issues when needed.
• Produce high-quality work on time while minimizing scrap and rework, including using root-cause analysis methods such as the 5 Whys when appropriate.
• Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, including participating in 5S activities when appropriate.
• Cross-train in other machining and tooling areas and help develop other toolmakers and machinists.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wauseon, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
