Electrical and Control Systems Lead Engineer Location: United States, Fountain Valley, California Job skills: Electrical, Engineering and Project Management Type: Contract Job id: 168439 Salary: Negotiable Employment Type: 6 month contract-to-hire Location of Position: Fountain Valley, CA Location Type: Office, Hybrid schedule Responsibilities Act as an engineering lead on projects involving medium and low voltage power systems, grounding, lighting, instrumentation and control systems. Support client-focused activities such as business development and proposal preparation. Develop and mentor junior engineering and design staff. Prepare data sheets and specifications for electrical equipment for power distribution center (PDC), switchgear, transformer, motor control center (MCC), variable frequency drive (VFD), starter, control panel, etc. Perform electrical calculations such as short circuit, load flow, motor starting, relay coordination, arc flash study using ETAP or SKM software. Provide Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control for other engineers’ work product. Participate in startup, performance testing and troubleshooting. Participate in planning, cost control and scheduling for assigned projects. Develop and review TIC estimates. Maintain effective communication and relationships with project team members and clients, with a commitment to building enduring relationships leading to customer satisfaction and loyalty. Prepare & issue RFQs, evaluate vendor’s quotations, clarifications, Technical Bid Analysis etc. Review vendor’s documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications and calculations. Job Requirements B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering is required. California Electrical Professional Engineer license is required. Minimum work experience of 15 years with at least 10 years in the utility or energy industries and 5 years of supervisory/management experience. Experience with field start-up and troubleshooting is required. Knowledge in electrical engineering and design, NEC and API 500 with working electrical construction experience is required. Experience in consulting (or EPC with Design & Engineering capability) is strongly preferred. Some electric utility experience is preferred. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with clients and team members in both verbal and written form. Familiarity with AutoCAD and BlueBeam is preferred. Familiarity with ETAP and/or SKM is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
