Civil Engineer I

Job Summary Hennessey Engineers has an exciting opportunity for a creative and talented entry‑level Civil Engineer in our Southgate, MI office. This position requires self‑motivation, commitment to high‑quality work performance, excellent planning and communication skills, and the ability to work with other staff in a project team environment. As an entry‑level civil engineer, you will have the opportunity to explore municipal engineering projects, MDOT projects, and private development projects with a defined career path as you move forward. Responsibilities Plan and design Civil and Site Development projects, including site layout, grading stormwater management, and utilities. Prepare specifications and contract documents. Work closely with other technical staff to assist in providing consulting engineering services from municipalities, architects, and local development clients. Interact daily with project teams. Minimum Physical Requirements Exposed to occasional lifting and carrying. Will have normal office working conditions and be required to sit and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and maneuvering around project sites for attending client and project meetings and site observations. Able to use various technical equipment for communication and documentation. Visual acuity necessary to perform responsibilities. Desired Education Bachelor of Science Desired Major Civil Engineering Desired Skills/Experience Relevant internship, co‑op, or field inspection experience of site development or general civil engineering experience.
