Optical Technician

Optical TechnicianAn Optical Technician must have an aptitude for mechanics and an eye for detail. Their function is to ensure that all parts and products under their care are in proper working order and meet the quality standards of the company.Responsibilities:Responsible for setting up and operating manufacturing equipment.Responsibilities may include blocking, degreasing, grinding, polishing.Knowledge and understanding of process steps.Measure optical parts using optical metrology equipment, including hands tools.Understand quality specifications and perform quality checks on own work.Able to perform cleaning methods on small optics using both hands and a variety of tools such as tweezers, suction cups, clamps, Q-Tips, etc.Able to interpret blueprints, work orders, travelersParticipate in Kaizen events and other improvement activities.Help develop and maintain process documentation.Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.Help develop with team members the creation of WI and other matrix neededHelp support improvements on the production floor for sustainmentWork with manufacturing team to identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality in the optical manufacturing process.Help support any safety related initiatives.Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detailAbility to use precision tools to take accurate measurementsAbility to maintain close tolerancesAbility to read blueprints, schematics and manualsKnowledge of glassGood mathematical and computer skillsMust be able to work independently with minimal guidance requiredExcellent communicationStrong ability to motiveTeam player and willingness to share job knowledgePositive attitude is essentialMinimum Education (or substitute experience) required:· High School Diploma or GEDMinimum Experience Required:· Minimum 2 years' experience in related fieldThe Company is committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and applicants for employment.
