Phlebotomy InstructorPhlebotomy Instructor is responsible for developing and continually improving a comprehensive training program, including instructional and assessment materials, competencies, procedures, and learning resources in both manual and electronic formats. The training program will cover clinical phlebotomy techniques and classroom education to prepare new and existing team members for clinical phlebotomy, other lab specimen collections, and EKG procedures as necessary.Required QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED.ExperienceMinimum of 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist.Completion of a formal, structured phlebotomy program.Licensure & CertificationMust obtain Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) certification within one year of hire.Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within six months of hire.Other Skills & KnowledgeExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsEducationAn Associate's degree or certification in one of the following, or another closely related discipline, may be considered with one year of phlebotomy experience:EKG TechnicianMedical Office Assistant (MOA)Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)Patient Care Technician/Patient Care Liaison (PCT/PCL)Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)Healthcare StudiesNursingASCP certification with other relevant experienceExperience2–5 years of experience performing phlebotomy in a hospital or large clinical setting.Phlebotomy experience across varied service lines, such as:InpatientNursing homeAmbulatoryOther healthcare settingsEqual Opportunity EmployerOSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
