Job Title: Bioprocess Associate Job Description: The Bioprocess Associate operates and supports automated bioprocess and production systems in a highly regulated environment focused on safety, quality, and efficiency. In this role, you prepare and operate bioprocess equipment, support cell culture growth from cell bank thaw through harvest, and perform media and buffer preparation, process monitoring, sampling, and harvesting activities. You follow established procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate closely with your team to ensure reliable, high-quality production outcomes. Responsibilities Operate bioprocess equipment to support cell culture operations from cell bank thaw through harvest. Prepare media and buffer solutions according to established formulations and procedures for use in the production process. Clean, assemble, and sterilize production equipment to support aseptic and compliant operations. Interface with automated production and bioprocess systems and controls to execute routine process steps. Monitor bioprocess parameters, perform in-process sampling, and support harvesting activities while maintaining product quality and consistency. Follow and comply with all safety requirements, including proper use of equipment and adherence to facility safety guidelines. Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), batch records, and good documentation practices when performing all tasks. Accurately capture process data and maintain clear, complete, and timely records of production activities. Partner with coworkers and supervisors to troubleshoot equipment and process issues, escalating concerns appropriately. Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Experience working in a bioprocess manufacturing environment or other regulated industry, or equivalent hands‑on experience. Basic understanding of cell culture processes, including culture growth and harvest operations. Basic knowledge of equipment setup, aseptic techniques, and sterilization operations. Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and batch records with strong attention to detail. Ability to interact with process automation systems for routine production work. Familiarity with working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or similar regulated manufacturing environment. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all aspects of work. Ability and willingness to work an alternative 4/10 schedule, including weekends and night shifts as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications B.A. or B.S. degree in Life Sciences is preferred. Experience in bioprocess manufacturing or a similar regulated production environment is highly valued. Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing operations documentation, such as SOPs and batch records, is a plus. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional team members and supervisors. Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting equipment and process issues. Interest in innovative food and biotechnology industries and sustainable production methods. Work Environment This role is based onsite four days per week at a modern bioprocessing facility in Emeryville, CA. Work in a regulated manufacturing environment that emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices. The position follows a 4x10 alternative work schedule with a strong preference for swing or night coverage. The primary schedule for this role is a graveyard shift, Wednesday through Saturday, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. A training ramp of approximately one month on day shift is expected before transitioning to third shift. Requirements include willingness to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. The environment involves routine interaction with automated production, bioprocess systems, media and buffer preparation areas, and cell culture equipment. Work is performed in clean, controlled production spaces where proper gowning and aseptic practices are required. Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Emeryville, CA. Pay & Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00–$38.00 /hr.
