Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7:30 AM Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Ability to read telemetry strips - Experience with common diagnoses/treatment in a stepdown setting Description: This position involves caring for patients in a stepdown unit. The patient population includes typical MedSurg cases such as chest pain, COPD, abdominal pain, and pneumonia. Registered Nurses will be responsible for titrating drips in the stepdown unit. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for stepdown patients. The unit has a total of 32 beds, with 12 designated for stepdown care and 20 for floor patients. Floor patients are typically managed with PCAs, heparin, and similar treatments. A charge nurse is budgeted per unit, and a house supervisor is always available. Nurse aides are also present, running with a ratio of 4 aides for fully staffed conditions. This position requires the ability to float to other units as needed. Royal blue scrubs are the designated color for this position. Work schedules include nights, weekends, and holidays as required. The charting system utilized in this role is EPIC.
