Job Title: Welder and Fabricator

Job Description

This role combines welding and fabrication to produce high-quality steel and stainless-steel components. You will perform MIG and TIG welding, tack and assemble metal parts, and operate fabrication equipment while following technical drawings and maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel and stainless-steel components according to specifications and quality standards.
• Tack, fit, and assemble metal parts from steel and stainless steel to create complete assemblies.
• Inspect welds for structural soundness, accuracy, and overall quality, and correct any defects as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to determine welding requirements and fabrication details.
• Set up, operate, and adjust fabrication equipment such as pipe band saws and metal shearing machines to cut and prepare materials.
• Grind and clean materials and welded components to achieve the required finish and prepare parts for further processing or assembly.
• Handle and move materials safely, including lifting and positioning metal parts, while following proper material-handling procedures.
• Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with machinery and welding equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safe operations.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and ensure products meet required specifications.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in MIG welding on steel and stainless-steel materials.
• Proficiency in TIG welding on steel and stainless-steel materials.
• Ability to tack, fit, and assemble metal parts from steel and stainless steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols.
• Skill in inspecting welds for structural soundness and overall quality.
• Experience using fabrication tools and equipment such as pipe band saws and metal shearing machines.
• Ability to grind and clean materials and welded components to specified standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment correctly.
• Physical ability to handle materials and perform welding and fabrication tasks for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Familiarity with operating and maintaining metalworking machinery and tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic issues with welding and fabrication equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing production requirements.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to follow established processes and quality standards while suggesting improvements where appropriate.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to industrial machinery, noise, and typical shop conditions. You will work on or around pipe band saws, metal shearing machines, grinders, and other fabrication equipment. The role requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and to regularly walk, lean, squat, bend, climb, stoop or crouch, reach overhead and down, stretch, and twist. You must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and use your hands and fingers to handle machinery and materials. Personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required and provided, and adherence to safety procedures and proper attire suitable for a fabrication shop is expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Porterville, CA.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
