Senior Tax Manager

A nationally recognized public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager to join its growing tax practice in Houston. This role will focus heavily on complex partnership taxation, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and large middle-market businesses, while also supporting high-net-worth individuals and closely held entities.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax compliance and consulting engagements for complex partnerships, C-Corporations, and S-Corporations across a variety of industries
• Serve private equity-backed portfolio companies and large middle-market businesses with multi-entity structures
• Manage tax planning and compliance for Private Client Services (PCS) engagements, including high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and business owners
• Review complex federal and multi-state tax returns including Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120S
• Advise clients on entity structuring, transaction planning, tax efficiencies, and operational tax matters
• Research and analyze complex tax issues related to partnerships, allocations, basis calculations, mergers & acquisitions, and pass-through entities
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted business advisor
• Manage engagement budgets, timelines, staffing, and overall client deliverables
• Mentor, coach, and develop staff and managers within the tax practice
• Collaborate cross-functionally with firm leadership and specialty tax groups

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
• CPA required
• 8+ years of public accounting tax experience
• Strong experience with partnership taxation and pass-through entities
• Experience supporting private equity portfolio companies and large business clients preferred
• Exposure to PCS / high-net-worth individual taxation strongly preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of federal and multi-state tax regulations
• Experience reviewing complex business tax returns and managing client relationships
• Proven leadership, project management, and mentoring experience
• Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience

• Private equity and transaction advisory exposure
• Experience with tiered partnerships and complex ownership structures
• ASC 740 / tax provision exposure is a plus
• Experience working with large middle-market or national firm clients
