ACCOUNTANT/AUDITOR

Grade 18, Non-exempt -$40.75/ hour $74,165/year Under the direction of the Controller, the Accountant/Auditor is responsible for the development and monitoring of all contracts and programs delivered or funded by the Agency. The Accountant/Auditor conducts reviews and audits in house and in the field using standard accounting methods and auditing techniques while adhering to all applicable federal and state requirements and following those Agency practices and procedures as have been codified by the Fiscal Department. The Accountant/Auditor must be able to share information with those being audited in a collegial manner while maintaining the appropriate professional distance to ensure the integrity of the auditing process. Position Requirements General knowledge, skills, and abilities Familiarity with the Older Americans Act and Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person, electronically, and/or by telephone Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to identify concerns, assess, and problem solve with the general public, stakeholders, fellow employees, and volunteers, to ensure a satisfactory resolution of requests for service Computer skills to maintain and report data, work with web-based systems, use Microsoft Office 365 (Windows, WORD, Outlook, and PowerPoint), use Microsoft Teams, and work in Adobe Acrobat and Docusign Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties Ability to work as a member of a team to assure project completion within defined timelines Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds Ability to work on-site, to telecommute, to work in the field, and attend special events or off-site training and conferences that also may require travel that includes overnight, out-of-town lodging Ability to operate with a high level of discretion and strictly adhere to confidential information policies and procedures Ability to be flexible and resilient in the face of competing demands and changing deadlines Job specific knowledge, skills, and abilities Skilled at conducting diligent and thorough research to resolve discrepancies Knowledge of the guidelines of Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and not-for-profit accounting Knowledge of automated general ledger accounting systems (AccuFund preferred) Ability to initiate, maintain, and closeout provider contracts assisting other AAA4 staff and funded partners with the development and monitoring of provider budgets and revisions Ability to process and approve funded partner budgets, Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs), Requests for Funds (RFFs) and monitor funded partner expenditures and revenue in comparison to approved budget and performance variance analyses Ability to conduct bi-annual on-site and desk reviews and prepare evaluations of subcontractors, recommending and ensuring improvements as needed Skilled at maintaining organized, meticulous, comprehensive, and legible notes and records Ability to support the Controller in preparing and presenting accounting information to the Governing Board, Advisory Council, funded partners, and others unfamiliar with accounting practices and principles Knowledge of best practices for inventory control including documentation of acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation Additional requirements Required to successfully pass a background check which includes fingerprinting Required to be a Mandated Reporter Required to maintain the licensure/certification required of the position for the duration of employment with the Agency Required to have, if driving on behalf of the Agency, a valid California Driver License, have regular access to a passenger vehicle, and to maintain proof of current automobile insurance Required to be accessible electronically during work hours if working away from the office Employment/Education Qualifications Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a closely-related field AND At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and automated accounting systems (Experience in governmental/non-profit accounting is preferred, Active CPA License highly preferred - willing to negotiate compensation) License/Certification: Bilingual and biliterate preferred, but not required Physical demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, twist, and stoop; use hands and arms to grasp and reach; to talk and hear.
