We create shows in a broad range of unique and innovative styles, and we aim to match the right talent with the right production in terms of skill and artistic style.By submitting an application for this Color Designer role, you may be considered for any Color Designer positions that arise until the expiration date provided.Applications submitted to this job posting will remain valid until December 31, 2026.What You Will DoThe Color Designer will work directly with the Creative and Production Leadership to create color designs and assets for the series that align to the style and sensibility of the show. We are looking for individuals who can make thoughtful color choices regarding the lighting, environment, tone, and atmosphere of each assigned scene. Responsibilities include:Working with the Art Director and/or Color Design Supervisor/Lead to implement their vision of the color design as it pertains to the look, color and style of the seriesObtaining creative approval on all color designs that are created for each episode prior to shipping to the assigned animation service providerColor designing and maintaining/organizing work as assigned, typically including but not limited to: characters, props, effects, expressions, special poses and size compsPreparing and organizing the design elements and design element files for the animation service provider for each shipment as it pertains to its assigned episodeShipping design element files to the animation service provider when requestedWorking closely with the background designs and paintings, creating and maintaining consistency regarding the color and design of the seriesCollaborating and communicating needs and progress with supervisors and other departments as requested, within the series and Color Design within TVAAdhering to the production schedule provided by show Leadership to ensure cost effective and timely productionUtilizing TVA provided Harmony scripts as requested to ensure data and workflow consistencyConverting Photoshop to Harmony files, depending on the series processAnswering questions and problem solving color design related issues that arise with the animation service providerAdditional duties as assignedRequired Qualifications and SkillsExpert knowledge of color and color theoryIllustration or traditional art skillsKnowledge of software including Harmony, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D technology where applicableExperienced in the creation of detailed style guides and be comfortable dealing with internal and external departments dailyA broad knowledge of artistic styles and latest animation technologyAbility to align with style and color sensibility of showExcellent organizational, verbal, written, e-social skills and acumenAble to work independently in a fast-paced environmentPositive attitude with the ability to be flexibleWillingness to share expertise with crew members and other Color Designers within TVAEducationBachelor degree or equivalent work experienceJob LocationThis is a fully on-site role based in Glendale, CA.The pay rate for this role in California is $56.44 to $62.11 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
