Assistant Research Scientist – NYU Langone Health, New York, NY Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Research Scientist in the Genome Technology Center (GTC), a state‑of‑the‑art shared resource laboratory operated by the Division of Advanced Research Technologies at NYU Langone Health. The Assistant Research Scientist will perform a variety of complex laboratory tasks and standardized procedures to provide high‑quality genomics resource support for the research community. Job Responsibilities Assist with installation, implementation and operation of highly specialized equipment and instrumentation in the GTC shared resource laboratory, including lab automation. Handle sample preparation, quality control analysis and analytical processing to generate high‑quality data for further analysis and interpretation. Participate actively in experimental design and implementation. Optimize, implement and perform daily instrumentation tasks: Operate sequencers (Illumina MiSeq, NextSeq, HiSeq, NovaSeq), PacBio and Oxford Nanopore Technologies—troubleshooting, maintenance, data management and interfacing with HPC. Operate Nanostring and ddPCR instruments and manage data. Develop full workflows for DNA, RNA and custom target library preparation and laboratory QC. Perform qPCR analysis for library preps for all NGS workflows. Develop and optimize high‑throughput library preparation using lab automation. Analyze nucleic acid quality and quantity for downstream NGS applications using Agilent Bioanalyzer, Tapestation and Picogreen quantitation. Contribute to the development and implementation of new or modified procedures, including ordering and record‑keeping for billing purposes. Maintain, update and share technological knowledge. Contribute to scientific papers and present data when appropriate. Other duties as assigned. Communication and Relationships with Others Excel in cooperation, collaboration and communication with all NYULH employees. Communicate directly with PIs and other scientists and coordinate service scheduling. Respond appropriately and provide requested information in a timely manner. Communicate ideas, problems, suggestions and messages effectively. Maintain the confidentiality of all research information. Judgement / Decision‑Making Recognize problems as they occur and apply appropriate policy/procedure to determine and recommend solutions; troubleshoot as needed. Seek guidance when necessary, ask appropriate questions, and utilize reference sources to ensure accuracy. Advise appropriate personnel of situations or problems requiring intervention or follow‑up attention. Minimum Qualifications MS degree in a related discipline and 0–1 year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Post‑doctoral training with a record of publications. Strong communication skills at all organizational levels.
