Histotechnician - Grossing

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnician to join our team in Monrovia, CA. This casual/per diem position is scheduled for 1st shift with hours as needed. Job Responsibilities Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination. Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimens. Section embedded tissue using a microtome and mount sections on microscope slides. Perform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin‑fixed, paraffin‑embedded tissue sections. Process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures. Properly orient and embed surgical tissue specimens. Prepare stains and reagents for special procedures. Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care. Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments. Document equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, and quality control procedures. Record equipment log data accurately and promptly. Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and SOPs for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting. Document problems affecting test performance and perform corrective actions as needed. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology. At least 1 year of prior grossing experience. Preferred Qualifications Current or prior Labcorp experience. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology. Histology and/or ASCP certifications. Additional Job Standards Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment. Immunohistochemistry experience. Comfort with embedding both large and small specimens. Strong labeling and documentation skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Experience in a high‑volume laboratory environment. Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols. Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test. Pay Range $40.00 – $50.00 per hour.
