Assists higher level mechanic in repairing boats, other watercrafts and related equipment, performing preparatory tasks such as sanding, base painting, mixing compounds, and under direction cleans boat components, engine parts, and assists in installation of rudders and center boards, etc. Performs routine preventive maintenance of watercrafts and general handyman tasks around the Marina and Outdoor Recreation facilities, including water craft above and below waterline (the latter requiring use of snorkeling equipment) and docks such as replacing bang rails, etc. Maintains recreation area, facilities (including Camping and Picnic areas) and equipment in the proper condition, removing trash, policing restrooms, and emptying contents into dumpster. Provides information concerning the use of equipment, facilities and operation. Ensures only authorized patrons use recreation area, facilities and equipment.

May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical duties as needed. May operate a cash register, receive payments and make change. Performs operational checks and maintenance of outdoor rental equipment, correcting simple malfunctions such as replacing mask/snorkel straps, propane lantern mantels, sewing of tent rips/tares. Operates assigned vehicles to transport supplies and materials to work sites. Ensures that safety procedures are followed.
