As a Public Health RN 2 within the Columbus Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

This position will be housed at the Columbus Health Department and will provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:

• Function as an expanded-role nurse to provide nursing care consistent with the patient's level of need.
• Assist with the overseeing of the daily functions of nursing staff.
• Utilize the EMR system to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
• Order and dispense medications based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
• Will be responsible for collaborating with the office manager to minimize patient wait time, ensure adequate nursing coverage, and assist with patient care.
• Support staff with outreach events, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a Bachelor's degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse. Public Health experience.

Additional Information

All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
