About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Corrections Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years in Corrections preferred License: Active Texas or Compact RN license Certifications: Active AHA or ARC BLS Must-Have: Must have previous Corrections experience. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Must disclose any previous employment history. Must not have conflicts of interest with current employees. Description: The RN is a licensed professional who coordinates patient care delivery by the healthcare team. The RN uses the nursing process to assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, and develop individualized plans of care. The RN evaluates patient responses and assists patients in transitioning through healthcare encounters without complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on patient conditions and employee competencies. The RN provides care to the assigned patient population according to established protocols and standards. The RN performs continuous assessments and collaborates with other team members as necessary. The RN exercises independent judgment in providing nursing care and demonstrates effective interpersonal skills. The RN must possess basic computer literacy and written communication skills. The RN must effectively communicate with patients. The RN will be required to demonstrate knowledge of nursing standards of care for the specialty area. The RN performs medication passes and assesses healthcare requests. The RN conducts withdrawal assessments and administers medications such as insulin. The RN delivers wound care, conducts clinic visits, and performs rounding and ECGs. The RN provides care in accordance with the State of Texas Nursing Practice Act and multidisciplinary plans of care.
