Senior Subcontracts Specialist, Indirect Long Beach, California, United States Vast is developing next‑generation space stations to ensure a continuous human presence in space. This role supports the development of the systems required for the design and build of human‑rated space stations. Responsibilities Develop category‑specific strategies for indirect subcontracts (facilities, capital equipment, and services) to deliver high‑quality, low‑cost solutions. Interface with key Vast customers—operations, manufacturing, engineering—to understand strategic direction, capital requirements and business priorities. Manage the procurement process—RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, negotiations—and coordinate supplier planning, execution, contract preparation, and execution. Directly manage suppliers for indirect spend, maintain scorecards, conduct quarterly business reviews, and measure contract compliance and key metrics. Ensure all sourcing activities comply with procedures and protocols; track execution against plans for cost and timeline. Seek alternate and innovative ideas to create competitive advantage and provide business solutions. Minimum Qualifications Experience negotiating contracts and terms, specifically AIA agreements. Experience in all aspects of indirect procurement from demand identification through fulfillment. Associate’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering. Experience with subcontracts, purchasing or contracts within an aerospace environment. Negotiation skills with contracts exceeding $1 million and tight deadline requirements. Experience presenting to senior leadership. Additional Requirements Ability to travel up to 20% of the time. Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support mission milestones. Compensation and Benefits Pay Range: $131,200 – $186,240 USD (California) Base salary is one component of a comprehensive compensation package, including equity, 401(k), health, vision, dental, paid time off, parental leave, disability insurance, life insurance, and other perks.
