Position Summary The Director of Maintenance serves as direct supervisor of hangar/line technicians, parts personnel, and all direct and contract maintenance technicians, including administrative personnel at the maintenance facility, and coordinates maintenance activities with company personnel, other business units, and customers. Key Responsibilities Serves as liaison with the FAA Certificate Management Office on matters pertaining to RAS's Part 145 Repair Station, and maintains a positive working relationship with the FAA. Leads and directs proper application of company policies and procedures, maintenance procedures, and applicable FAA regulations, and manages a staff of operational and administrative direct reports. Coordinates aircraft induction and shop schedules before and during all repair station functions, monitoring the maintenance induction schedule to maximize productivity in the most cost-effective manner. Leads, trains, and directs maintenance personnel in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft discrepancies in accordance with approved technical data, safety precautions, and proper work practices. Ensures all completed work is properly inspected before return to service, with required inspection, maintenance, and release records, reports, and forms properly executed. Ensures maintenance performed under FAR 121, 125, 129, or 135 Continuous Airworthiness Programs (per FAR 145.2-145.205) complies with the applicable air carrier's manual, with required items inspected by RII inspectors independent of the work performed. Ensures compliance with Contract Maintenance regulations under 14 CFR Part 145.209(h) and 145.217, and with aircraft maintenance log and work order requirements under 14 CFR Part 43. Completes vendor audit requests and maintains vendor audit records; ensures each work package is properly audited for accuracy and regulatory compliance in accordance with Part 145. Serves as client liaison for quotes, keeps clients updated throughout the inspection process, and ensures quality assurance satisfaction at delivery. Oversees the timely repair, maintenance, and cleanliness of facilities, equipment, and company assets, including parts rooms, vehicles, work offices, and storage areas. Performs and oversees inventory audits, corrects FAA and auditor findings, and ensures ongoing adherence to federal regulations. Promotes safety throughout the organization and ensures employees are adequately trained, including on-the-job training, to safely and effectively perform assigned work. Ensures accurate, timely timecard completion, proper uniform compliance, and adherence to all Company directives among assigned staff. Anticipates equipment needs and drives safety, reliability, and cost-effective operations through capable staff development and judicious use of personnel, equipment, and supplies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required; must meet the requirements of 14 CFR 65.83. Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience in Part 121, 135, or 145 operations, including at least three (3) years in a director-level or above management role. Minimum of five (5) years of budgetary experience overseeing assets, personnel, equipment, and facilities. Minimum of three (3) years of accountable manager-type experience with Operations Specifications (OpSpecs) authority. Strong knowledge of FAA regulations under 14 CFR Parts 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145. Clear understanding of typical Part 135 maintenance manuals, with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work nights and weekends with a flexible travel schedule; strong lateral leadership skills and industry awareness required. This position offers an annual salary of $90,000-$100,000, based on experience and qualifications, along with medical and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off (PTO). FAA Certificate Contingency: This position requires holding and maintaining a valid FAA A&P certificate in good standing at all times, meeting the requirements of 14 CFR 65.83. Any suspension, revocation, or lapse of this certificate may result in termination of employment. Safety-Sensitive / DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing: This is a safety-sensitive position. As required by 49 CFR Part 40 and applicable FAA regulations, candidates and employees are subject to pre-employment, random, reasonable-suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing under RAS's FAA-approved anti-drug and alcohol misuse prevention program. Testing screens for marijuana (THC), cocaine, amphetamines (including methamphetamine and MDMA), opioids (including codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, and oxymorphone), and phencyclidine (PCP). Background Check: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. Work Authorization / Form I-9: All new hires must provide documentation establishing identity and authorization to work in the United States, as required by federal law (Form I-9). E-Verify Participation: RAS participates in the E-Verify program. Upon hire, RAS will provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
