The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The HVAC Technician performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company standards. This position works closely with the Facilities Manager and other maintenance staff to support daily operations throughout the hospital.

Qualifications:

Required Education:

• High school diploma or GED EPA 608 certification

Required Experience:

• EPA universal refrigerant handling required including EPA 608 certification
• Electrical experience with 480/240/120-volt electric systems.
• Ability to solder and braze pipe.
• Familiarity and experience with air cooler chillers and water-cooled chillers
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial HVAC
• Experience with belt and filter maintenance
• Experience with Pneumatic and DDC VAV systems.
• Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance on rooftop units
• Experience with performing mechanical pump repairs
• Experience with air handling units, and unit and convection heaters

Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Perform routine repairs on units which include commercial air handler units (AHU), rooftop units (RTU), VAV systems both pneumatic and DDC.

2. Perform belt and filter maintenance,

3. Familiarity of ductwork and associated fitting, pipe fitting, installation support including furnaces, air conditioning units, heat pumps, mini-split systems, and low-pressure steam boilers.

4. Works independently and is expected to recommend repairs,

5. Assist in cost estimating, and providing preventive maintenance plans to management.

6. Assist with snow removal and other similar duties as assigned

7. Maintain and train staff on Building automation system (BAS) Siemens & Precision or similar.

8. Ability to read building plans and work with minimal supervision.

9. Perform mechanical pump repairs

10. Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)

11. Experience Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF
