JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Community Engagement is a leadership role responsible for advancing strategic community partnerships, strengthening cross-program integration, and driving measurable growth in service access and utilization. This position serves as both an external ambassador and internal systems leader, ensuring that community voice, equitable access, and coordinated service delivery are embedded across Hub operations and agency programming. The Director collaborates closely with Hub leadership, program teams, and external stakeholders to cultivate a welcoming, resource-rich environment that improves client outcomes and community well-being.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Community Engagement, Organizing & Advocacy

• Represent the Hub and organization at community events, forums, and stakeholder meetings.
• Lead community engagement and organizing strategies that engage residents, clients, and partners in identifying needs and shaping responsive services.
• Facilitate community forums, listening sessions, and coalition meetings to elevate community voice and strengthen civic participation.
• Develop initiatives addressing service gaps, health inequities, and emerging community needs.

Program Integration & Service Coordination

• Align Hub initiatives with agency-wide service delivery goals, promoting coordination across behavioral health, housing, care management, and community-based programs.
• Develop and implement engagement and referral protocols that support integrated, person-centered service delivery.
• Partner with program leadership to ensure continuity of care and seamless service navigation for clients.
• Promote trauma-informed and culturally responsive service practice.

Strategic Partnerships & External Relations

• Build and sustain high-impact partnerships with healthcare providers, community-based organizations, schools, and advocacy groups.
• Establish referral pathways and collaboration agreements i.e. (MOU’s) to expand access to services.
• Represent the organization in cross-sector coalitions, task forces, and borough-wide initiatives.
• Serve as a key liaison to strengthen organizational credibility and community trust.

Community Resource Coordination

• Oversee the identification and equitable distribution of community resources (e.g., food, clothing, hygiene supplies, emergency services)
• Develop systems to track resource allocation, donations, and utilization.
• Ensure resource efforts are integrated with service referrals and follow-up

Engagement Programming & Mobilization

• Design and implement community engagement initiatives, including outreach campaigns, events, and resource drives.
• Develop and maintain an annual engagement plan aligned with community priorities and agency strategy.
• Mobilize staff, volunteers, and partners to actively participate in community initiatives.

Data, Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

• Establish processes to collect and analyze engagement data, including outreach, referrals, participation, and outcomes.
• Monitor trends and translate findings into service improvements.
• Develop reports and dashboards to support leadership decision-making.
• Apply evaluation findings to strengthen and scale effective practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position may supervise interns, volunteers, or designated staff as assigned.
• Provides leadership, guidance, and support to cross-functional teams and initiatives.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• This role operates in a hybrid environment, including office, community, and field-based settings.
• Regular travel within the community and across boroughs may be required.
• Ability to attend events outside of standard business hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
• Ability to lift and transport materials related to events and outreach (up to 25 lbs.) as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s Degree required in Social Work, Public Health, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in community engagement, program development, or social services.
• Demonstrated experience in partnership development and systems-building.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral health systems
