Job Description
Exciting Cardiac PCU Opportunity for Experienced Nurses!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts per week)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Available Start Dates: Every Monday
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Travel Requirements: Must reside outside a 50-mile radius (NO local travelers)

Unit Focus:
- High-acuity, heavily cardiac-focused Progressive Care Units (PCUs)
- Strong cardiac background is essential
- Must be proficient in EPIC

Required Competencies:
- Ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms
- Must pass Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt (no remediation opportunities)
- Paper-based, proctored exam requiring the use of calipers
- Review attached Telemetry Study Guides

Patient Ratios & Acuity:
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 to 1:5
- Expect high patient acuity, frequent admissions/discharges, and significant procedural volume

Common Cardiac Drips Experience Required:
- Insulin
- Milrinone
- Dobutamine
- Amiodarone
- Heparin
- Lasix
- Nitroglycerin (Nitro)

Equipment & Specialty Experience:
- No ventilator patients
- Heart transplant experience preferred (training available if needed)
- LVAD experience preferred (training available if needed)
- Must have a rating of 4 on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
- Chest tube experience required

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
- Experience with listed cardiac drips and telemetry interpretation
- Must successfully pass a telemetry exam

- Atrial Flutter
- Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT)
- Ventricular Tachycardia (VTach)
- Ventricular Fibrillation (VFib)
- Fluid Volume Overload (FVO)
- Chest Pain
- Hypertension (HTN)
- Heart Transplant Patients
- Congenital Heart Disease
- LVAD Patients

Common Procedures:
- Right & Left Heart Catheterizations
- TR Band Management
- Sheath Removal/Management
- Stent Placement
- Valve Replacement Procedures
- STEMI/NSTEMI Care
- Pacemakers
- ICDs
- Cardioversions
- Ablations
- Groin Site Management

Floating Expectations:
- Travelers may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed
- Travelers will not float to the Cardiac Monitor Tech role
- Full-time staff nurses are the only eligible candidates for Monitor Tech positions
