$64k - $76kMD Anderson
The Division of Education and Training at UT MD Anderson is seeking an Administrative Postdoctoral Fellow. This fellowship is designed for recent PhD graduates or postdoctoral fellows who wish to pursue careers in educational administration. The primary focus of the Administrative Postdoctoral Fellow will be to assist in the directives of the Office for Postdoctoral Fellows and participate in secondary activities within the Research Education & Training (RET) Department. The Administrative Postdoctoral Fellow's training will follow a learning plan to be developed in collaboration with their mentor at the start of their appointment. The expectation is that the Administrative Postdoctoral Fellow will apply for employment in administrative management positions (e.g., career services, student services, postdoc offices, grant development, college/graduate school or departmental operations, etc.) at an academic and/or medical institution at the conclusion of their training. All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Fellows who complete the fellowship will learn how to:
1. Develop, implement, and evaluate research education, career development, and professional development programs that support postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and other research trainees.
2. Design and implement evaluation strategies by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting trainee and program outcome data to support evidence-based decision-making, continuous quality improvement, RET operations, and institutional reporting requirements (e.g., the Cancer Center Support Grant [CCSG]).
3. Develop proficiency in the use of digital tools, such as REDCap, Power BI, and artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, to collect, manage, analyze, visualize, and report trainee and program data.
4. Navigate organizational structures, governance systems, policies, and procedures to support effective trainee development, enhance the trainee experience, and advance RET operations.
5. Collaborate and communicate effectively with trainees, faculty, administrators, and institutional leaders through written, verbal, and presentation formats, leveraging digital communication tools, website platforms, and learning technologies.
6. Support and strengthen the partnership between the Office of Postdoctoral Fellows and the Postdoctoral Association through collaborative planning, communication, and implementation of programs and initiatives that address postdoctoral needs and priorities.
7. Manage and evaluate postdoctoral orientation programs and career advising sessions.
8. Develop and implement trainee recruitment, engagement, and outreach strategies.
9. Promote funding opportunities and support grant-writing initiatives that enhance trainees' competitiveness for fellowships and research funding. Depending on individual interests and career goals, fellows may also:
1. Develop scholarly products including abstracts, posters, presentations, manuscripts, and other materials related to research training, workforce development, and education programs.
2. Engage with professional organizations and conferences to acquire, share, and apply knowledge that advances both RET departmental priorities and individual development goals. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants must have received a PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) or be in the final stages of doctoral training with an anticipated completion date within three months of application.
2. The doctoral degree must be completed before the start of the fellowship appointment.
3. Applicants should demonstrate leadership experience, professional engagement, and/or career exploration indicative of an interest in academic administration, educational leadership, workforce development, or research training.
4. Applicants from diverse disciplinary backgrounds are encouraged to apply; however, candidates with experience or strong interest in biomedical research, research training, higher education, or workforce development will be prioritized. ADDITIONAL APPLICATION INFORMATION
