If you want to join a team whose mission is to elevate the automation industry, we want to hear from you!The Controls Engineering Manager is accountable for the controls hardware and software group execution performance of the Industrials division in terms of achieving functional targets, beating project budgets, ensuring on-time delivery of scope, and delivering engineering excellence leveraging our PEM process. As a technical professional, you will provide support to the design, programming and commissioning of controls systems of projects including PLC's, motion control and vision systems for the Industrials industry. This position reports to Vice President, Controls Engineering.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the controls design group to meet functional targets, budgets, and timelines, ensuring engineering excellence through milestone reviews and strategic problem-solving.Approve and enforce compliance with documented engineering processes, and drive alignment across business units through standardized practices and tools.Stay current with industry trends, lead technology research, and implement innovative solutions that enhance Convergix's competitive edge.Allocate and manage technical resources to meet project demands, monitor capacity and chargeability, and escalate staffing needs when necessary.Coach and mentor team members, lead performance reviews, support training initiatives, and participate in recruitment and onboarding.Partner with sales, applications, and systems design teams to develop inventive solutions, clear specifications, and support commercial strategies.Review customer standards and URS documents, ensuring alignment with operational excellence and regulatory requirements (e.g., IQ/OQ/PQ).Collaborate globally to develop standardized controls/software templates and drive consistency across projects and teams.Maintain and improve engineering tools and systems to support business development strategies and operational capacity.Develop and manage relationships with outsourced resources to augment internal capabilities while maintaining quality standards.Qualifications and ExperienceEssentialBachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, etc.)Strong knowledge of Industrial manufacturing processes and specific project examples of successful outcomes.Ability to leverage past personal process integration experiences to bring innovative solutions to the Industrials division.Strong technical and project management skills – an overall well-rounded skill set (technology, people, business acumen, etc.)Amazing interpersonal skills within a multi-disciplinary team and diverse customersReliable transportation and an ability to travel; Controls Engineering Manager should have the ability to travel within the US and CanadaTenacity to solve problems and take ownership of solutions with a sense of urgency.Direct experience in programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, robotics, web handling, complex precision motion control, crimping, laser ablation/welding/finishing, swaging, material joining, dispensing, reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.Proficient with cycle time analysis/simulations, process and flow breakdowns, and the development of critical requirements / specifications to drive design solutions.Experience with compliance to equipment design standards (i.e. ANSI, CSA, OSHA, CE, etc.), IQ, OQ, PQ protocols, ability to develop/interpret test scripts to aid in equipment validation, UL/CE certifications and compliance.DesirableDeep understanding of Automation Equipment and process controllers such as PLCs, Robots, and Conveyance systems.Knowledgeable with Servos, Presses, Drives, HMI, Actuators, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Vision and Sensors, SCADA and MESFamiliarity and/or proficiency with SolidWorks, ePLAN, Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition and AutoCAD is a plus.Passion for engineering, robotics, and automation equipment in the Industrials industry and proven ability to teach/motivate/develop team members while acting as a mentor.Ability to explain detailed engineering concepts and ideas to a wide audience of people.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds.Perks of Being Part of the TeamComprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans401K, including company matchCompany-paid life insurance with optional supplemental coverage for you and your spouse/childrenCompany-paid short and long-term disabilityEmployee Assistance ProgramPaid-time off and company-paid holidaysProfit SharingWhat does CONVERGIX value?Integrity - Respect, Transparency, CommitmentExcellence - Continuous Improvement, Innovation, Collaboration, CommunicationPassion - Momentum, Sense of Urgency, Growth, Success, VelocityWe thank all candidates for their interest, however only those considered for an interview will be contacted.CONVERGIX Automation Solutions has an accommodation program in place that provides reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities.
