Veterinary Assistant Job Summary

Dix Hills Animal Hospital is looking for a fulltime Veterinary Assistants to join our Team!

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. The role will involve assisting our veterinarians in a General Practice settings. This is a dynamic position that requires flexibility, compassion, and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their owners
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of hospital and equipment
• Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
• Participate in the care of hospitalized patients
• Adhere to hospital core values, policies and procedures at all times
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the highest standard of patient care

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or similar setting is preferred, but we are happy to train the right candidate!
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays
• Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members
• Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals
