Essential Duties and Responsibilities Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and Core Values. Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours. Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor; use the Guest Services script based on the division served. Operate cash register or electronic scanner and lookup products as needed to access UPC codes or prices. Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode. Use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment properly. Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add‑on items, including the charity of the month. Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers so accurate amounts are charged to the guest. Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required. Ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction; never answer these questions for the guest. If necessary, check acceptable identification, use 36 sign‑in, to ensure a legal sale. Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards. Issue receipts and any change due. Accurately count change back to the guest. Bag or box merchandise appropriately, using double bags only when requested for multiple bottle orders. Assist with carry‑outs when needed and feasible. Compute and record totals of all transactions on a daily record sheet. Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached to maintain proper till balance. Keep work area clean and neat; do not overstock the counter with merchandise. Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop. Answer questions and provide information to guests. Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect. Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present. Avoid use of personal cell phones while on the sales floor. Stock shelves and check price tags as needed. Monitor checkout station, ensuring all needed tools such as register paper and paper bags are in stock. Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed. Carry out directives of management efficiently. Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail. Practice teamwork and cooperation with others. Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks. Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment. Stand for most of the shift, bend and walk occasionally; use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally; push/pull 50–100 pounds or more occasionally. Use proper lifting techniques and tools. Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA. Other projects and tasks assigned by management. Attendance and timeliness are required. It is hard to run the register from home. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED preferred; cashiering experience preferred. Language: Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions; bilingual skills a plus. Mathematical: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate discounts and percentages. Experience: Cashiering experience preferred; willing to learn new skills. Physical Requirements: Stand, walk, bend; lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; push/pull up to 50–100 pounds occasionally; proper lifting techniques required. Certification: Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit required; Food Handlers Permit accepted in some cases. Age: Must be over the age of 21 as required by state law. Demeanor: Friendly, outgoing, self‑starter, strong work ethic; patient and helpful to guests and coworkers. Hours and Work Schedule Full‑time: Typically 35 hours per week. Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and available 80% or more of all shifts each week. Part‑time: Up to 25 hours per week. Shift flexibility based on business needs. Working outside scheduled time requires District Manager approval.
