Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN General)

Administers nursing care within scope of practice under the direction of registered nurses, licensed physicians, dentists, podiatrists, optometrists, or chiropractors. Administers oxygen, applies sterile dressings, inserts catheters, reinserts gastrotomy tubes, suctions, irrigates wounds, gives enemas, and collects specimens. Performs dialysis treatments, operates hemodialysis equipment, and monitors patients during procedures. Assists physicians with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests. Assists in emergencies by administering first aid, performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and/or restraining patients. Administers controlled drugs and non-controlled medication in oral, rectal, topical, or injectable form and provides medication instructions to patients. Maintains medication accountability records and observes, documents, and reports patient conditions. Prepares and maintains related reports and records. Provides general nursing, direct care, and programming assistance. Monitors and takes patient vital signs and assists with personal grooming and hygiene. Administers topical ointments and solutions and responds to patient alarms. Makes medical appointments for patients and assists with recreational activities. Provides work direction, orientation, and training to lower-level direct care staff. Attends and participates in various meetings as assigned. Orders medication and medical supplies. Cleans nurses' stations and medication areas. Performs clerical tasks, such as answering phones and filing. Demonstrates the ability to understand practical nursing instructions and develop good rapport with patients. Recognizes unusual or threatening conditions and takes appropriate emergency action. Displays dexterity to administer injections and perform medical treatments. Exhibits the strength to move, reposition, or restrain patients.

Must-Have:

• Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures
• Knowledge of pharmacology
• Knowledge of client/patient care
• Knowledge of first-aid and CPR
• Knowledge of general hospital practices and procedures
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and standards

Experience: Minimum years of experience required

License: Current LPN License

Certifications: CPR certification
