Director of Medical-Surgical

Job Description


The Director reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and is accountable for twenty four hour Patient Focused management of the Medical-Surgical & Pediatric Inpatient, Swing Bed and Infusion Clinic & Obstetrical departments . Responsibilities include the direction of age appropriate service line activities, critical evaluation and administrative decision making within evidence based standards of care, policies and procedures as well as other duties assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer. Position requires the ability to develop and maintain a highly functional team of professionals with Patient Centered focus on Quality & Safety.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• ADN required, BSN or actively pursuing preferred
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine or Authorization of Practice pending licensure by endorsement
• BCLS required, ACLS & PALS to be achieved within six months of hire
• Excellent understanding of Patient Centered Care
• Commitment to the role of Nursing in Safety & Quality
• Five to seven years of clinical Nursing experience and a minimum of two years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated clinical proficiency delivering age appropriate, evidenced based care of patients within the Nursing process.
• Well developed, mature leadership skills, excellent communication skills, EHR experience, ability to multi task, solution focused, creative.
• Demonstrated autonomy and ability to function effectively and productively within an Interdisciplinary team.
• An enthusiastic, ethical Nursing leadership skills.
