Description The Welder is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance work on equipment, machinery, piping, and structural components throughout a food-grade manufacturing facility. This position requires a strong focus on safety, quality, sanitation, and maintaining equipment in a condition that supports food-grade manufacturing requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow and comply with applicable good manufacturing, safety, and quality assurance practices. Perform MIG and TIG welding as required for repairs, fabrication, and equipment modifications. Perform basic set up and maintenance on weld machines. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and work instructions. Fabricate, modify, install, polish, and repair equipment, piping, platforms, guards, and other components. Perform welding, fabrication, and polishing of sanitary purge welding in food-grade manufacturing. Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner. Inspect completed work to ensure welds, repairs, and fabricated components meet quality and operational requirements. Maintain clean and sanitary work practices appropriate for a food-grade manufacturing environment. Ensure welding, grinding, and fabrication activities do not create contamination or foreign-material risks. Manufacture project per Grassland’s specifications. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable food safety and cGMP requirements. Properly use and maintain welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, hand tools, and other assigned equipment. Assist maintenance personnel and other departments with equipment repairs and projects as needed. Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, operators, and other team members regarding equipment issues and completed work. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and materials. Follow required lockout/tagout, hot work, PPE, and other safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to perform sanitary purge welding and fabrication experience. Ability to perform stainless steel welding. Experience in a food-grade manufacturing or industrial environment preferred. Ability to use and read a variety of measuring devices. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and measurements. Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and food safety. Must be able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to communicate effectively in order to maintain high levels of safety, quality, and efficiency. Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights. Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance. Demonstrate the Qualified Individuals responsibilities for Preventative Controls. Education/Experience Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience in welding/fabrication. Technical Diploma in Welding and at least 2 years of experience, preferred Familiarity with different types of stainless steel, preferred.
