Power Plant Operations Manager

This isn't just another tech role—it's your chance to own the nervous system of a simple cycle gas power plant in Colorado Springs. You'll be the go-to expert for the DCS, CEMS, and every field device that keeps the lights on. You will take charge of operations, testing, and maintenance for the plant's distributive control system and all associated instrumentation. That means you'll:

• Administer processes and procedures alongside the O&M Manager—identifying on-condition tasks, evaluating cost-benefit of changes, and specifying instrument or electrical upgrades.
• Use installed and portable test equipment, plus technical manuals, to troubleshoot equipment and systems down to the component level.
• Compute and analyze test data to keep performance sharp, and review P&I drawings and logic diagrams to anticipate needs before they become problems.
• Monitor startup procedures to determine exactly what control and electrical support is required, then coordinate job planning, work methods, and reporting for your assignments.
• Perform both routine and non-routine preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment—from calibration and repair of I&C devices to upkeep of site buildings and grounds.
• Maintain calibration, test, and certification records for all electrical and instrument equipment.
• Create and update procedures for instrumentation and electrical systems, and direct work in line with company and regulatory policies.
• Operate plant mobile equipment (forklift, man lift, etc.) and support responsibilities outside scheduled hours when needed.
• Complete the O&M Tech I qualification process within two years of your start date.

You bring:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Instrument & Control Technician, with a proven track record in power generation or similar industrial environments.
• A two-year technical degree in instrumentation, electrical technology, or a related field—or equivalent experience that shows you can hit the ground running.
• Deep familiarity with DCS, CEMS, and field devices; you can read logic diagrams and P&IDs like a map.
• A safety-first mindset and the ability to work cooperatively, communicate clearly, and adapt when plans shift.
• Comfort with occasional travel and the flexibility to respond outside normal hours when the plant needs you.
