We are seeking experienced, dedicated ICU Registered Nurses to join our team at the prestigious VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. Base Pay: $56.36 / hour Health & Welfare Stipend: $5.09 / hour Flexibility: Opting out of company benefits? We can roll the full H&W stipend directly into your hourly rate (up to 40 hours per week). Position Requirements To ensure the highest standard of care for our veterans and navigate the federal credentialing process smoothly, qualified candidates must meet the following criteria: Experience: At least 1 year of recent critical care experience within the past 5 years (specialties include SICU, MICU, ICU, or PACU). Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (CCNE or ACEN). Licensure: Proof of an unrestricted RN license from any U.S. jurisdiction. Certifications: Valid BLS certification is required for all departments; ACLS certification is required for SICU, IMCU, CCU, and ICU. Professional Standards: Ability to comply with VA professional appearance and quality assurance guidelines while on duty (including standards regarding visible tattoos, piercings, and nails). Background Check: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and provide a 5-year employment history (with brief explanations for any standard gaps) to satisfy federal credentialing requirements. Our collaborative scheduling system allows you to plan your life while maintaining essential hospital coverage: Predictable Hours: A steady minimum of three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours), with occasional opportunities to pick up a fourth shift. Weekend Rotation: To ensure fairness across the team, four weekend shifts are required per month (scheduled as two full weekends or split up). Fairness Policy: To maintain critical patient safety ratios, missed weekend shifts are made up on the following weekend. Easy Planning: The monthly schedule opens on the 2nd Monday of each month.
