Crisis Specialist

Location: Mental Health Emergency Center (MHEC) - Lufkin, TX Position Number: 442 Compensation: $43,920 - $45,355 annually , depending on qualifications and experience. About the Role The Crisis Discharge Specialist is a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team providing services to individuals receiving care in Burke's Extended Observation and Crisis Residential Units. This position works collaboratively with treatment team members to help stabilize clients in crisis, support successful discharge planning, and connect individuals with ongoing outpatient and community-based services. The Crisis Discharge Specialist also provides rehabilitative services, safety monitoring, case management, and crisis support while helping clients develop the skills needed to prevent relapse and successfully transition back into the community. This position may also assist with emergency assessments and phone coverage as needed. What You'll Do Provide rehabilitative services to clients in accordance with individualized treatment plans. Participate in treatment planning and discharge planning with the multidisciplinary treatment team. Help clients develop coping skills to manage crises and reduce the risk of relapse. Coordinate linkage and engagement with outpatient and community-based services. Provide case management services to support continuity of care. Transport clients to Burke facilities or community programs when needed. Monitor client safety and provide ongoing support during treatment. Facilitate group and one-on-one skills training. Complete emergency assessments as needed. Assist with phone coverage and other MHEC responsibilities as assigned. What You Need Required Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, medicine, registered nurse, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, early childhood intervention, or another Human Services discipline that meets Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) requirements, from an accredited college or university. Valid Texas driver's license. Driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator. Ability to complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggressive Behavior (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training modules. Preferred Two (2) years of full-time direct care experience working with adults in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting. Work Schedule Monday - Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Occasional after-hours work may be required to assist with MHEC responsibilities. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods. Ability to see, hear, communicate effectively, and perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity. Ability to successfully complete the physical requirements necessary for SAMA, CPR, and First Aid training. Why Burke?
