Cashier • Part‑Time • Dierbergs Markets Cashiers are front and center, greeting customers, ringing up their items, carefully bagging their items, and making sure they have a fantastic experience. They are outgoing, dependable people who go above and beyond while they handle a variety of responsibilities. Responsibilities Greet customers and engage in friendly conversation Scan items quickly and correctly Operate the register or monitor self‑checkout accepting various forms of payment (e.g., gift cards, credits, debits, EBT cards, tax exempt, store charge, and WIC vouchers) Use equipment such as computer terminal, scanner, keyboard, code book, intercom system, calculator, printer, telephone, and coupon machine accurately Verify customer identification for liquor and tobacco purchases according to state law and Dierbergs policy Bag customers’ items with care and load items into customers’ carts Keep equipment in proper working order Keep work area sanitary using company‑approved cleaners and equipment Work safely to prevent on‑the‑job injuries Observe and report shoplifters Essentials Read basic information containing details and describing procedures involving several steps Basic computer and math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule Adherence to our dress code, appearance, and personal hygiene standards May be cross‑trained in other departments Physical Requirements Lifting & Carrying – up to 40 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently Pushing & Pulling – up to 30 lbs of force occasionally Occasional movements – sit, kneel, stoop, squat, and overhead reach Frequent movements – head turn, trunk bend, side reach, grasp, power grip, pinch, finger manipulation, and feel Constant movements – stand, handle, and forward reach What's in it for you?
