Location: North Carolina, US Proposed start date: 07/01/2024 Position Summary The UNC Department of Family Medicine in partnership with the UNC Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research seeks a clinician-scientist with a scholarly focus on chronic illness and/or problems of aging. This joint recruitment provides a superb opportunity for building or enhancing a career in clinical research by providing superb research resources, colleagues with a variety of ranks and backgrounds, links to all six health‑science schools, a large clinical operation, and world‑class informatics. The physician researcher will serve as a clinician educator in the Department and as Deputy Director of the Sheps Center’s Program on Aging, Chronic Illness, and Long‑Term Care. Responsibilities Providing patient care in Family Medicine Centers and/or inpatient service at UNC Hillsborough Hospital, based on applicant interest and department need. Fulfil the institution’s teaching mission: teach and mentor medical students, interns, residents, fellows, and other learners in a variety of clinical settings. Develop a scholarly interest focused on aging, chronic illness, and long‑term care. Work as part of a larger team to improve access, reduce cost, improve quality and promote better health outcomes; engage in community outreach and attend professional events to assist with program development and building professional relationships. Minimum Education And Experience Requirements MD or DO required. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience Fellowship training and/or an advanced degree (e.g. MPH) is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
