Deli Team MemberFLSA Classification: Non-ExemptReports To: Deli ManagerGeneral Purpose: The Deli/Bakery Team Member is essential to customer service and ensuring the deli/bakery department is clean, productive, and inviting to the customers. We are closed for 5 major holidays and our stores are not open late because we understand the importance of family time.Responsibilities & Duties:Customer ServiceSell, select, wrap, or package productsCross Train to BakeryOperate baler, case cutter, pallet jack, knife, intercom, pricing gun, slicer, fryer, yogurt machine, cash register, steam table, stove, smoker, scales, and wrapperPrepare and organize the cooler, freezer, and all deli department areasUnload trucks, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for shortages/damage and quality, sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code date the productClean department floors, mirrors, containers, cooler, shelves, slicer, fryer, product production area and shelvesStock deli department, ensure great visual representation of deli departmentKnow and use safety guidelinesInventory ControlChange signs, light bulbs, shelf signs/tags and price markers on the case or shelf displayCommunicate with the Deli Manager on problems, recommendation for change and merchandising ideasCheck case, cooler and freezer temperatures three times dailyRecord out-of-stock conditions and the time they occur, report the Deli ManagerPerform any other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Deli and/or Store ManagerRequired Education / Experience:Work and education history demonstrating stability: high school diploma or equivalent1+ years of deli experienceAbility to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with other departments and personnel.Basic mathematical skills required (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)Experience, understanding, and knowledge of operations in a food service business/industryGood problem-solving skillsBasic reading and writing ability; able to readMust be a self-starter and independent thinkerGreat work ethicPhysical Demands:Work on tile or concrete standing for extended periods of timeLift a maximum of 50 lbs. from 6 inches to 84 inches, overheadMove a maximum of 50 lbs. up to 15 yardsUse maintenance and product transportation equipmentReach forward and/or down with both hands up to 36 inchesHandle various equipment in association with Deli Department job dutiesBend and twist at the waist while reaching and holding itemsClimb on ladders, racks, cases, shelving, and stairs up to three feet in height.Balance on wet, slick, dirty and debris strewn floors.
