ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assess patients to obtain medical information including vital signs, weight, and height. Contact medical facilities to manage medical records, including retrieval and filing, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Coordinate specialty testing applications and communicate with labs for diagnostic and laboratory services. Inventory and order medical, lab, and office supplies and equipment. Set up and perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses. Operate electrocardiogram (EKG), and other equipment to perform routine diagnostic tests. Support the nursing staff in all aspects of patient care.
