Overview The Division of Professions (Attorney) is responsible for administrative prosecution of violations for regulated professions under the jurisdiction of the department, including Chapter 455, Florida Statutes, and all applicable practice acts. The role is supervised by the Attorney Supervisor. The Work You Will Do The Attorney will perform administrative prosecution of violations, draft pleadings, negotiate settlements, and represent the department in hearings. Your Specific Responsibilities Analyze violations of statutes or administrative rules and recommend appropriate action. Research, draft, review, and amend pleadings, complaints, motions, dismissal orders, consent orders, settlement agreements, and memoranda of law. Negotiate settlements. Review, edit, and evaluate proposed rule packages. Respond to consumer and industry inquiries. Prepare witnesses to testify. Take and defend depositions. Initiate and respond to discovery. Prosecute and defend enforcement actions before the Division of Administrative Hearings and the agency's informal hearing officer. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Skill in drafting legal documents. Skill in managing multiple complex cases. Ability to prioritize work. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to conduct legal research. Ability to make oral presentations in court and in large groups. Ability to recognize and act on emerging issues and shifting priorities. Ability to travel. Minimum Qualifications Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. Must be a current member of The Florida Bar or pass the Florida Bar exam within one year of appointment.
