Registered Nurse Operating Room

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room provides skilled nursing care in a fast-paced acute hospital environment specializing in surgical patient care. This role involves preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient management, ensuring safety and quality throughout the surgical process. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient outcomes and supports the facility's Magnet status and Level II trauma designation. A minimum of two years' experience, active RN license, and relevant certifications are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide perioperative nursing care including patient assessments, monitoring, and documentation.
• Assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, equipment, and supplies.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient response.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the Epic electronic health record system.
• Participate in call coverage limited to coverage for call-offs only.
• Float within scope to like units as needed to meet facility needs.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards.

• Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska (must have license in hand for offer).
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

• ACLS certification preferred.
• CNOR certification preferred.

• On-call coverage is limited and only for call-offs.
• Weekend work is required.
• May float to like units within scope as needed.
• Time off requests are approved individually upon offer and must be included in submission.
• Travelers must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted.
• Parking is free.

• 13-week assignment.
• Shift options: 3x12 hour days or 4x10 hour days.
• Shift start times vary between 06:45 19:15 or 09:00 21:30.
• Guaranteed 60 hours per 2 weeks, with possible call-off of one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
