Position Overview This position involves the performance of molecular genetics assays, laboratory administrative tasks, and general laboratory maintenance within the Pharmacogenomics / MassArray pipeline. Accountabilities & Responsibilities Laboratory Bench Work Using molecular genetic techniques to perform laboratory procedures within the Pharmacogenomics MassArray pipeline; Using manual laboratory techniques as well as high throughput tools (eg. automated liquid handling instrumentation) to complete laboratory assays. Laboratory Instrumentation Working with Agena MassArray and 3730XL Capillary Electrophoresis instrumentation to complete laboratory assays. Laboratory Administrative Functions Maintaining records, performing sample tracking, and creating assay plate orders. General Laboratory Maintenance Functions Assisting with reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, assay development, and troubleshooting; Following all laboratory procedures and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documenting appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required. Position Requirements 4 year Bachelor degree or higher in a Biological Science or related field. Previous experience in a molecular biology or clinical laboratory environment with demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques. Demonstrated understanding of general molecular biology principles and concepts. High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision. Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel and/or Google Sheets, including the ability to navigate complex spreadsheets. Familiarity with navigating LIMS tracking systems. This is an active position and requires being on your feet, moving between lab benches and instruments for most of the day. MB (ASCP) Certification is preferred.
