Senior UX Designer

The Senior UX Designer is responsible for leading the design and user experience efforts for web and mobile applications. This role involves creating intuitive and engaging graphical user interfaces, managing end-to-end user research, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality digital products. The position requires strong expertise in UX design principles, prototyping tools, and user-centered methodologies, with a focus on accessibility and alignment with digital service standards. Responsibilities:

• Create GUI designs based on user interaction and performance insights.
• Design for web and mobile applications as a UX, interactive, or UI designer.
• Define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with stakeholders and business users.
• Manage end-to-end user research including recruiting participants and synthesizing findings.
• Develop wireframes, user stories, user flows, user journeys, mockups, and prototypes optimized for multiple devices and interfaces.
• Facilitate product vision through research, sketching, prototyping, and user-testing digital experiences.
• Identify design problems and develop elegant, strategic solutions related to core and new product features.
• Gather and incorporate user feedback to improve existing interfaces.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, QA specialists, and business stakeholders.
• Prepare clear and comprehensive documentation such as reports, reviews, and assessments.

• Proven experience in UX design, interactive design, or UI design for web and mobile applications.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canvas.
• Ability to manage UX projects and lead workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions.
• Experience conducting user research, interviews, surveys, and translating findings into design deliverables.
• Strong communication skills to convey design concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Understanding of web development technologies and their limitations.
• Experience designing with accessibility in mind, including meeting WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.

• Experience working with the Ontario Design System.
• Knowledge of digital service standards.
• Prior experience in the Ontario Public Service or public sector.
• Experience handling complex design challenges involving legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder approval processes.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing methodologies.

• Must be a team player able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience working in collaborative teams across different organizational levels.
