Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN MICU - Medical Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Chicago, Illinois.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: MICU - Medical Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Aug 31, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 2\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring active IL RN licensure and comprehensive stroke and critical care experience.Details\n \n 30-bed ICU encompassing MICU, Neuro ICU, and Surgical ICU within a comprehensive stroke center\n Night shift schedule from 19:00-07:30\n 13-week assignment length\n Works every other weekend and every other holiday\n Weekend sick call requires working the following weekend (Friday 7p-Monday 7am)\n Floating expected if ICU census is low\n EPIC EMR experience required\n Requirements\n \n Active IL RN license required\n Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required\n Required knowledge in CRRT, CABG, stroke, and TNK administration\n Experience assisting with bedside procedures including intubation/extubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, TEEs, and cardioversions\n Experience managing ventilators, BiPAP/AVAPS, and other oxygen delivery methods\n Experience managing patients on multiple vasoactive medications\n Experience with GI surgical, stroke/neuro (craniectomy, hemicraniectomy, spinal surgeries), cath lab, and interventional radiology patients\n Experience managing sepsis, GI bleed, COPD, CHF, and DKA patients\n Ability to interpret invasive hemodynamic values (CO/CI/SVV/CVP/SvO2)\n Preferred: open heart surgery experience (CABG, valve surgeries, AAA)\n Preferred: comprehensive stroke experience (EVD, thrombectomy, TNK)\n Preferred: experience with assist devices (IABP, Impella, CRRT/Prisma)\n Preferred: experience with prone positioning and paralytic management (TOF/BIS monitoring)\n DCI/BVP Workplace Violence Prevention certification required\n DOB and SSN required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide critical care nursing across MICU, Neuro ICU, and Surgical ICU patient populations\n Work within a comprehensive stroke center setting\n No RTO permitted during holidays\n Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-741349.
