Position Summary Vice President – Product Engineering (Senior Individual Contributor). Responsible for building the next‑generation platform that powers Oaktree’s credit business. The role is hands‑on, code‑every‑day, and covers the full stack from ingestion to user interfaces, with a focus on data‑intensive applications and cloud‑native architecture. Responsibilities Build and own critical components of the credit platform end‑to‑end, including data pipelines, services, and user‑facing applications. Design and implement data‑intensive applications—ingestion pipelines, transformation layers, analytical engines, and APIs—that are performant, reliable, and scalable. Contribute to modernization of the technology stack, shaping future architecture within an established vision. Work directly with business stakeholders and investment professionals to translate goals and pain points into well‑scoped, high‑value engineering work. Act as the de‑facto product owner: prioritize work, define MVPs, run experiments, iterate quickly, and make trade‑off decisions grounded in user value and business impact. Apply grounded generative AI thoughtfully across development to enhance velocity, code quality, analytics, and AI‑powered features. Mentor and elevate engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and by setting a high bar for craft and ownership. Implement modern development and release practices (CI/CD, feature flags, automated testing, observability). Champion data‑driven experimentation and continuous feedback loops, using telemetry and analytics to inform decisions. Communicate trade‑offs clearly to technical and business audiences, framing engineering decisions in terms of outcomes. Qualifications 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of building and owning data‑intensive systems in production. Proven success as a senior individual contributor or staff/principal engineer in complex domains, such as financial services or infrastructure. Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrency, distributed systems, and performance optimization. Deep expertise in designing, modeling, and tuning large‑volume data pipelines and services. Proficiency in Python and at least one statically typed, compiled language (C#, C++, Java, Scala, or Go). Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern cloud‑native patterns. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and operating without a traditional PM structure. Strong product instinct, able to connect technical execution with user needs and business outcomes. Skilled at mentoring engineers and influencing without authority, raising the bar for the team. Excellent communication skills, comfortable white‑boarding with engineers and discussing priorities with business leaders. Compensation and Benefits Base Salary: $190,000–$225,000 (commensurate with experience). Eligible for discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package, and a flexible work arrangement.
